How to remove Ubuntu One from Ubuntu 12.04

I usually use Drive and OneDrive(sometimes DropBox :-P) for storage options. When I installed Ubuntu 12.04 , I thought “why should I keep this unnecessary application on my Ubuntu”. And then hack began.

I followed these steps to remove Ubuntu One completely from the box. I am assuming that you have never used Ubuntu One.

sudo apt-get purge ubuntuone-client* python-ubuntuone-storage*

However, Ubuntu One icon will still remain visible in your launch bar. To remove the installer, run this command,

sudo apt-get purge ubuntuone-installer*

Then, at last check installed packages(if any) using command,

sudo apt-get purge ubuntuone*

Also, there are some leftovers which you have to remove manually. To locate the directories,

sudo updatedb; locate ubuntuone

Now, Ubuntu 12.04 is free from bloatware.
